     Ans: An 'invocation' in an epic is an entreaty for aid and guidance from a Muse or deity at the beginning of the epic.

b) What do you understand by ‘Man’s first disobedience"?

     Ans: 'Man's first disobedience’ is the act of eating the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge.

c) Name a poem of your syllabus in which syllogistic pattern has been used.

     Ans: “To His Coy Mistress” by Andrew Marvell is a poem on our syllabus in which syllogistic pattern has been used.

d) How does the poet rebuke the sun in the poem “The Sun Rising?”

     Ans: In "The Sun Rising", the poet rebukes the sun as “Busy old fool, unruly sun”. He asks the sun to go and tell late schoolboys, apprentices, ants and hunters that it is dawn.

e) Who is the architect of Pandemonium?

     Ans: Mulciber, one of the fallen angels, is the architect of the Pandemonium.

f) What does the ‘Collar’ symbolize?

     Ans: 'Collar' symbolizes discipline in divinity. It also symbolizes anything that keeps a man under self-control and curtails his freedom.

g) Why does Donne advise Death not to be proud?

     Ans: Donne advises Death not to be proud because he knows that death in nothing but a short sleep. After death man wakes up in eternity.

h) What does the word, ‘Valediction’ mean?

     Ans: The word 'valediction' means the act of bidding farewell.

i) Who is Queen Gloriana?

     Ans: Queen Gloriana is an idealized portrait of Queen Elizabeth I. Although she does not appear in the poem, many of the knights set out on their quests from her court, and they often praise her virtue and splendor.

     Ans: The rivers mentioned in the poem, “To His Coy Mistress” are Ganges and Humber.

     Ans: Easter is the third Sunday in the paschal lunar month to commemorate Jesus Christ's resurrection from death.

     Ans: The lover’s love is begotten by despair and impossibility. Despair is the father and impossibility is the mother of this love.
